Fresh Squeezed: Christmas Edition
Here at Fresh Relevance, we like to keep up with what's going on in the marketing world around us. So we want to keep you up to date on our favorite reads of the moment.
We went around the office and asked members of our team to talk about articles that have stood out for them this holiday season.
This is what we found:
One of my favorite things about Christmas is cooking! (Cinnamon in everything. Everything.) I'm always on the lookout for new recipes to try, and I found this neural net which was given a few thousand existing recipes and then told to create its own. Unfortunately, after reading through the article and the linked blog, I'm not sure if I could serve any of the results to my friends! Whole Chicken Cookies, anyone?
When December comes and the year begins to close, it always feels like the perfect time to reflect on the peaks and troughs of the year that has passed us by. As a marketer, this includes the campaigns we’ve seen throughout the year, and this ranking by AdWeek has reinforced why I ever wanted to pursue a career in marketing. My personal favorite campaign is one that tugged delicately on my heartstrings: Procter & Gamble’s “The Talk”.
Oh deer, snowed under during your last week? I present some cracker-ing marketing jokes to spruce up your last week at work. Have a tree-mendous christmas! (I’m sorry!)
Why did I choose this show over that show? Making programmes that I want to watch stand out among Netflix’s expanding library is no easy task. So having the ability to display various images based on my viewing habits is a hugely impressive achievement. It shows how seamlessly personalization influences my choices, and only makes me want to use the service more. If you want the more tech-focused ins and outs check out Medium's full post.

In the last few years, American Sports have really enhanced their technical insight in order to improve their team's performance on the field. With the NFL following in MLB's footsteps by utilizing Amazon Web Services' (AWS) technology for the best results. We also use AWS at Fresh Relevance to make sure that the data coming in is processed as fast as possible, this can be in a number of ways, such as CPU usage and the number of requests.
I love to play games at Christmas time, and this one is a particular favorite of mine. Not just because it's named after elephants, but because of the competitive (and sometimes aggressive) nature it brings out in myself and each of my loved ones. We will fight tirelessly to get the gift that we all think looks the nicest under its glittering wrapping paper, and then laugh and feel silly about it when we find out it's an old, smelly boot!
