At the end of September, Fresh Relevance along with Southampton Science Park and Grant Thornton UK hosted a coffee morning in support of the Macmillan Cancer Support charity.

The recipe for success

The Fresh Relevance, USSP and Grant Thornton teams worked together to coordinate two coffee mornings at separate locations on the science park, each with its own theme. Local businesses, restaurants and hotels donated fabulous prizes, from a luxury spa package to a galileo thermometer, for a standout raffle.

Let them eat cake

The team cooked up some delicious cakes, biscuits and treats. Coffee and tea were sipped, cake cravings were indulged and most importantly, donations were made. At the end of the coffee morning, the raffle was drawn and a few lucky people went away with prizes.

In total £812.70 was raised for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Elizabeth Coyle from the Science Park, one of the coordinators of the bake sale, said:

“I wanted to do the coffee morning to thank Macmillan for the great care and time they gave to my great aunt in her final days. It was a comfort to the family that she was in good hands with the hospital and Macmillan. I cannot thank the people of the Science Park enough, we exceeded what was raised before and my expectations for the day.”
