Fresh Relevance is now applying the ISO 26000 standards, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to integrating social responsibility into our company values and practices.

What is ISO 26000?

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is an independent, non-governmental international organization that brings together experts from around the world to develop International Standards.

ISO 26000 suggests tools for integrating social responsibility into core organizational decisions, providing guidance to businesses who recognize that respect for society and environment is a critical success factor. Application of ISO 26000 is increasingly viewed as a way of assessing an organization’s commitment to sustainability and its overall performance.

ISO 26000 is aimed at all types of organizations regardless of their activity, size or location.
The standard was launched in 2010 following five years of negotiations between different stakeholders across the world, including representatives from government, NGOs, industry, consumer groups and labor organizations.

The 7 core subjects of ISO 26000 are:

  1. Organizational governance
  2. Human rights
  3. Labor practices
  4. Environment
  5. Fair operating practices
  6. Consumer issues
  7. Community involvement and development

How does ISO 26000 define social responsibility?

Social Responsibility (SR) is the responsibility of an organization for the impacts of its decisions and activities on society and the environment through transparent and ethical behavior that:

  • Contributes to sustainable development, including the health and welfare of society
  • Takes into account the expectations of stakeholders
  • Is in compliance with applicable law and consistent with international norms of behavior
  • Is integrated throughout the organization and practiced in its relationships

What does using ISO 26000 mean for Fresh Relevance?

Fresh Relevance has used ISO 26000 as a framework to integrate social responsibility into our values and practices and corroborate our existing values and practices against an internationally recognized SR standard. Fresh Relevance is committed to continual improvement through ongoing internal auditing and investment.
